PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
PURPOSE OF YOGA: Yoga defines itself as a science--that is, as a practical, methodical, and systematic discipline or set of techniques that have the lofty goal of helping human beings to become aware of their deepest nature. The goal of seeking to experience this deepest potential is not part of a religious process, but an experiential science of self-study.
DESCRIPTION OF CLASS: Basic Yoga for Stress Management. Yoga is the practice of uniting the mind, body and spirit through breath, movement and meditation. Learn basic yoga positions and breathing techniques to help release the stress of daily living. No experience necessary.
An 8 week Yoga class taught by Ruth Hurd (Edgemere Resident) for adults (men & women) ages 21 and over. Ruth is currently pursuing her certification in Yoga instruction and as part of the certification course, Ruth must teach an 8-week course such as this. Participants will be required to bring their own Yoga mat (approx $15 at Walmart). All proceeds will be donated to the ESP Scholarship funds for local High School Seniors.
